Hi there
Has anyone heard of a Morris Fairbanks lathe?? and is there any info on them? I can't seem to find squat about it on line. I am going to look at it tomorrow...the guy says it has about 22" between centres and a cast base/stand so I don't think it is that large.
Please help if you can, or at least point me in the right direction.

That would be a Fairbanks Morse.

I just went to look at one awhile back. A 16X48. Quasi who frequents this board knows of the Canadian company. It is NOT the Fairbanks Morse that you all think. It is was a machinery sales "chain" up here in Canada. They bought and rebadged machines from other manufactures as near as I can figure. I recently saw one of their tacked on brass badges, They name all their offices... Vancouver, Calgary, Winterpeg, etc.
I was doing some further research on this company and saw where they bought a few lathes from Southbend... for what I don't know but suspect it was for resale???
The lathe I looked at was a rebadged McDougal. They were made in Ontario.
This was an old (but lightish) conehead.
I'm partners in a heavy McDougal... a 22X72. Now that is a lathe! Weighs about 6500 pounds with no socks on :D
