Interesting discovery today. Needed a 1" clearance hole in a plate of aluminum, didn't feel like setting up the boring head because I had another project in the mill. Thought...why not. Grabbed a cheap 1" spade bit from my carpentry box, a little tap magic....straight through, nice chips. Also seemed to leave a pretty good finish for possible use as a counterbore.

I was surprised.
