Help. I need a source for 18/5 SJO cord. That about says it.

SO cord I can find but it's too fat (0.406" dia) and not flexible enough. I need SJO (0.360 dia) which is about the same stuff but rated for 300 V and has thinner insulation.

I exhausted all local and eBay sources. Not much help from sources found through Googol either. So I'm turning to this board where resourcefulness reigns.

I only need about 100 feet. Anyone out there?

Hi Forrest, try searching General Cable Carol Brand. They have a FPLR 18/6 cord used for fire alarm work .210 nom o.d. 300 volt rating, but it might be too stiff as it has a S-R PVC outer jacket. 500 foot spool length.

I had the same problem awhile back and never did find any SJ rubber jacket cord.

What I did find was at

page 776 continous flex multi-strand cable,PVC jacket, but very tough.Same stuff used in CNC wire trays.

I have a few resources that *make* custom wire to my spec, typically 14-4 SJOOW with a custom color configuration. I'm sure they'd be happy to make some 18-5 for you, but the minimums might be a bit much, I think they like to deal in MILES of wire. I buy a mile at a time. If you want their info let me know.

I just spec'd some 14/7 shielded cordage from Carol Cable (General cable). It was a couple day wait from the local distributor, but available. So odd stuff is possible.

Quite a lot of the stuff is special order anymore, but if you look through their website you nay find some that does not have an asterisk by it (if it has one it's special). In that case, a distributor can get it, and may only require 50 feet or so on an order.

There is also a place down here in Wilsonville where I get some oddball cords for tig pedals and the like. If they fall through let me know.
