I thought John Fitch invented the steam boat. Fulton's patent drawings were lost in a fire at the patent office.

and Trevithick invented the steam loco.
Stephenson had a little to do with the valve gear, no?

As one author wrote, "Poor old Fitch got there first, but Fulton had the money behind him, and that's what made steamboats run, and still does."

I wish I could remember his name. He wrote a book on the Monongahela River, which is where I saw the quote. I believe he was also one of the authors of the musical "Pajama Game." Richard Bissel maybe?

Fitch filed the first patent and built the first boat, but Fulton built the first successful steamboat.History often doesn't remember successes less than stellar

At any rate Fulton did not build his own engine, instead he bought it from Watt and had them make modifications to his specs not telling them what it was intended for.

You might do better researching Watt engines with Fulton as a modifier.

I think you’ll find these of interest:-

Possible source of drawings…….

…… but it looks as though the resource is aimed more at libraries etc. ($$ involved).

Incidentally, I assume you're referring to the first commercially succesful steam boat, the Clermont. At the risk of being pedantic, one of Fulton's earlier steam boats (1799) had an engine made by Bateman & Sherratt of Salford, England, but the boat was a failure (the engine was said to have subsequently been used by landlubbers for another 50 years, though!)
