Here is a little project I put together for my 2 little buddies. It is a step between their powerwheels and a full-fledged go kart. We rescued a donor powerwheels jeep from the trashman and liberated the wheels and front end. Added 10 feet of 3/4" 20 gauge tubing for the balance of the frame, steering wheel from a Murray riding mower, threw on a boat seat, 400 watt (24V) brushless scooter motor, thrift store baking pan for battery tray and video game accelerator pedal. Talk about instant fun--we have 2 very satified customers!

I machined the motor mount, wheel drive adapter, and scrub brake. Most of the frame was brazed together rather than welded, as my buzz box would probably eat this thin stuff for breakfast.

Might not win many style points, but it's got that Honda Ruckus look going on. Enjoy the pics!

Surplus Center has a wide variey of #25 chain and sprockets if you go that route. I ordered motor sporckets from 9 to 12 teeth for so experimentation and a 72 tooth drive sprocket. The motor came from ebay. I think I settled on a top speed of around 14mph.

See if this video works...

I like it, just add a chain guard for safety's sake. Little fingers could get ate up bad.

Now you just need to motorize that big wheel the other one was riding :D Nicely done!

That is what I'm doing right now...only I'm doing it for adults who may or may not be consuming copious amounts of adult beverages.
