Youtube video of mythbusters and a mini-gun. Opens a brand new aspect of road rage and SUV's.

That's quite a nice SUV turret, the roof flaps double as armor. I think I'll steer clear from those monsters vehicles -- just in case.

I've always envied the Mythbusters, they've got the coolest jobs. Over the years it seems like Adam's developed the rock-star mentality, it feels like he shows up after everything's setup by the crew and says "So when do _I_ get to blow stuff up?"
Can you blame him? :)

I also like how they organize their shop. That must be a big problem to tackle seeing as how many new toys they get each week. They give me shop envy, too.

Yeah, that's the same Dillon minigun that Jesse James used to shred the first Monster Garage project he lost. There's an outfit in SoCal that rents it:

A weekend every April and October-Knob Creek Gun Range has a machine-gun shoot & military gun show (IMO) that's a must for any gun enthuisiast. There's been a fellow there everytime I've been there that shoots a mini-gun. The sound it makes when that thing fires is incredible.

Geez, I don't know how he can afford to shoot it! 50 rounds a second of .30 caliber ammo...

By the way, there was a follow-up episode of Mythbusters where they tried to cut down a tree with the minigun -- pretty funny :)

I've never heard a minigun in person, but I spent a lot of time on the range at Aberdeen Proving Grounds with Bradley's, M1A2's and Paladins (when I worked for Army Research Labs). The 25 and 30mm Bushmasters are loud, but the cylic rate is much lower than a mini-gun -- the Bradley is 200 RPM and the Apache's version is around 600 RPM.

That .30 caliber minigun is 3,000 RPM :D

The Paladin's got them all beat though -- a 155mm just freakin' hurts when you're standing next to it, even if you've got earplugs in. I used to wear earplugs and headphones on top, and the arty guys would call me unkind names ;)

When I was on the ship we had a lil phalanx (CIWS) gun. It shot 20mm sabot depleted uranium rounds. At about 6000 rounds per minute, usually reduced though for barrel life. It sounded somewhat similar, but a lil throatier. And it vibrated the entire 450ft ship. Even if you were in the bowels of the ship and it was firing you would know. And with the tracking system it was pretty impressive, for a short range gun anyway. Fast antenna and a short pulse width. JR

I've wanted to go to the knob north shoot.. but..

You have to trust the guy or gal standing next to you.. knowed a guy and wife once, he was teaching her to shoot, she got a hot brass in her halter top. she danced around shooting her man. Not dead, but still wounded.

I saw a few that could not handle the full auto recoil on the videos.

I've shot a open bolt Uzi, once.. Push the shoulder strap tight and let her go.. vision blurred, teeth chattered.. Mostly I love target guns, one shot, one golf ball, one target.. Since the back injury in 88, I love 22's most. I built a 308 that would hurt me from the hip to the neck. it weighed about 4 1/2lbs. THE 14lb 308 target gun was a different kinda recoil, it was a push instead of a snap kick to the shoulder.

It'd be orgasmatic to shoot a mini-gun.
