View Full Version : A bandsaw blade welding tip I learned here..

I see so many different ways of welding bandsaw blades. A guy here...can't remember who...said he just whacks them with a mig...
Well.. I usually can't be bothered to weld them so I never tried. Today.. I broke my last one on my lil 4X6 then found out the company in town that i always buy them from went out of business a couple weeks ago.
No other blades in town
so..whacked it with the mickey wire machine...ground the weld flat then polished it with a hardback pad...
Hmm...sawed thinwall HSS 45* angle cuts all afternoon. Thing works great.
Thanks for the tip whoever it was.. I am now an expert at bandsaw blade weldin :D

I've done that about 3 times now, my problem is I only have a HF 90 amp flux core, 2 settings hi and low, so I have to be fast on the trigger or I'll get burn through, well I get it anyway :D , but when you're in that situation, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
