A few months ago I posted a complete series on building a beam style steam engine---http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net/showthread.php?t=30035
Well, it has set on a shelf in my office ever since, kinda grungy and full of machining marks. It runs great, but 'twarn't pretty!!! A couple of weekends ago I ran out of other pressing "Things to do" so I had a polishing day. I have an old dual wheel grinder motor that I have set up with 8" diameter polishing buffs. I sent about 6 hours, starting with a spiral cotton buff and Tripoli compound, and then moving on to a loose cotton buff with white rouge compound. This is the finished result. The boys over on Home Model Engine Machinist website always like a bit of "Bling" on their steam engines, and now my engine is "Blingy" enough to show off with the rest of them.---Brian
