Tired of being politically correct? Bored with building tools, metalshaping, or whatever? Nothing on TV but re-runs and the Sunday night tear jerkers? Nascar off season? Too dang cold in the shop? Here is something you can spend a few years doing...

This was posted on another forum (MetalArtistsForums). Apparently Google is in the process of scanning a bunch of 'stuff' and making it available free. Here are two that might be of interest.
Popular Mechanics 1900 to 2000 (http://books.google.com/books?id=T9kDAAAAMBAJ&dq=popular+mechanics+%22metal+shaper%22&lr=&source=gbs_summary_s&cad=0#all_issues_anchor)

Popular Science 1870 to 2000 (http://books.google.com/books?id=iigDAAAAMBAJ&source=gbs_summary_r&cad=0_0#all_issues_anchor)

The July '37 Popular science has an interesting article on Fred Offenhauser and a blurb on a new type of wrecker where the flat bed rolls back and down. The ads alone are worth reading.

I wasted a day, you should too.. I did get my mind off the programming to get all the ducks in a row.. sometimes the harder you look the less you can see..

The March 1950 issue has an article called "When Oil Wells Run Dry". It is about making gas from oil shale. They clamed they could make for 8.4 cents a gallon in 1950's money. Why have we been buying our oil from the middle East? This country could supply all its own gas for the next 1000 years! Gary P. Hansen

Why have we been buying our oil from the middle East?

In the 50's it was about the USA, today, all things are all the time, only about money.
