Mill DRO Questions

Hello,
I am looking at cheap DRO from CDCO for my mill. The smallest unit they have listed is for a 8 x 36 mill. I have a 8 x 30 mill and was wondering if I could cut the scales down or do I have to have a setup for my exact machine size. I have zero experience with DRO's so if there is any other systems I should look at, or any nuggets of wisdom you could impart it would be appreciated.

Just call CDCO or send them an email. Frank at CDCO will mix and match the scales. The scales for the lathe DRO are the same as the Mill scales. So, any size you see listed can be purchased for your mill. I have an 9X20 mill and bought a DRO with a 12 inch for Y-axis and 24 inch scale for the x-axis.
