Hey,mine did that recently. I called my server and they told me to go to Outlook, click on tools, click on options, click on connections, see if the box called "hang up after dialing" has a 'x' in it. If it has, click on it and remove the 'x'.I had to appoligize to this machine after I found what was the problem.

Hey, forget Outlook Express and get a real E-Mail program. Just go to the Qualcomm site and download Eudora.

You have your choice of operating modes: Free with ads or paid with no ads. The ads are displayed in the lower left corner of the screen and do not in any way interfere with your use of the program.

I use it in paid mode at work and free, with ads at home. No operational differences. It's hands down better than Outlook Express or even the full version of Outlook - which I also have at work and use for scheduling only. Oh, and they have actual, talk to a real person, free tech assistance. Try to get that from Microsoft.

"Hang up after dialing". Yeah... You would probably want to turn that off. http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif

What's so great about a program that makes you pay to not see pop-ups? I use full blown Outlook and it works just fine. I mean it gets the mail, and I can read it, which is all it's supposed to do, right? Enlighten me.

Okay,I went to tools, then options, then connections and no dice, the hang up after dialing was blank,so now what?

Look in your connections again - click the check box for asking you before to changeing dialup connections.

if you get asked when you do e-mail - it means that you don't have your e-mail connection setup with the actual dialup connection.

click the change button and select the dial up connection that you actually are using to dialup with. (with which to dial?)

I had this happen to me once. Likely you redid your IP connection but did not redo the e-mail since you have one already.

you were in the right place - just did not go far enough.

You got the lil box clicked, hang up after in the configuration, accounts, options? in there somewhere I remember, or dial connection...

My neighbor used to do the same thing. I had to fix his twice, or maybe the porno sites were being mean to him with a cute modification program.

Outlook express has been hacked all to heck. Look forward for lots of spam. cookies steal your email addys, passwords, and read your mail for target marketing.

Hey, I didn't say "pop-ups". Eudora only has an ad displayed in a corner of the screen (lower left). It just sits there like a billboard by the highway. I wouldn't like it either if it had pop-ups.

Why is it better? Well, let me count the ways. First there's a far better look and feel. The file handling is intuitive, easier to use. The filters are great. It has things like automastic response, stationary, signatures, personalities, etc. Attachments are a breeze. So is forwarding and filing. Try it and you'll like it.

And the biggest advantage - it's not from Microsoft. Bill and his minions have far too much control.

If you're happy with Outlook or Outlook Express, then so be it: by all means, use it. I just think Eudora is far, far better. IMHO.

And by the way, you are still paying to use a program without ads. Eudora just gives you the choice amd the free version is 100% complete - nothing omitted.

Another option is Netscape. Download the latest Navigator and you get a built-in E-mail app that works remarkably well. It's 100% free, and has zero ads or banners.

One of the best parts is that since only around 4.5% of surfers use it, nobody bothers writing a virus for it. It's also set up considerably more resistant to the average forwarded virii- I've recieved the Klez virus a hundred times, but never been infected, it doesn't operate with Netscape. (Unless I deiberately opened and ran it, of course.)

Nav also lets you control pop-ups almost (but not quite) as well as Opera- I'm quite happy with both.

Don't mind me I like Macintosh computers - they work almost all the time - and the bomb icon is cute when you hack the system software and make it explode.

My buddy just got a company "mike" phone that has an internet browser, a inter-company walkie-talkie, a vibrating ringer (he won't tell me where he wears it - gets pissed when I ask that question http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif) - what the hell do you need whinerdowze ME fer?
