Hey, a few months back, a guy donated a matsuura slant 2 lathe to my program. 1986 machine, but in mint condition, and full tooled. Control is newer, fanuc 11T. I need to get it running again, as it has sat for two years.

I will ask for help as this project comes together from the greatest resource I have, the people on this page. It has a "memory" problem, may need a new card, but as i recall, these have "D" batteries that charge the memory? If anyone knows, let me know.

Will post pics Monday.

Most likely it has NiCd batteries. Remote possibilities are dry cells or a "Gold Cap" - which are usually .5F or larger Capacity but sledom larger than a quarter (on fax boards, computer boards, etc.). Extreem care should be taken if you have Gold Cap if it needs to be replaced it must be discharged with a high wattage resistor accross its terminals before attempting removal. If you toss it in the garbage, leave a resisitor soldered to it. NiCd batteries should not be thrown out but recycled. Lithium cells must be disposed of as hazardous waste. Check with your fire department - in Alberta they accept these hazardous materials to insure safe disposal.
