Uh well i was told that a oxy acetylene torch would or could be used to flow?? on a hard face coating on my suzuki 1100 (Now bored 1425) rocker arm wear pads?. Any ideas guys? I have problems with the wear surfaces wearing away since they are too soft and cheaply chromed. I was thinking if i hard face them and then mount them (one at a time) on my Suburban punch formmer i could regrtind the radius properly and NOT have to bother hard chroming them >> Thanx

Is your oil pump up to the job? Have you logged oil pressure at idle & at revs cold, warm & hot?
I know it doesn't answer your question but most top-end wear problems are lubrication-related. There is a huge amount of tuning/upgrade info and parts for that engine, so if the followers had an inherant fault there will certainly be an off-the-shelf part for a cure.

Stellite. We build up insert hold down clamps for machine tooling using oxy/accetaline stellite brazing rods.

There is a special torch made for this. It holds a small bottle of hard facing powder above the torch that resembles a cutting torch. The lever controls the flow of powder which is applied when the correct pre heat temperature is reached. These work great but cost $500 twent years ago. Correctly applied the hard material is thin but does have some thickness.

That explains it all :D
Pro-stock cams shouldn't be called cams - they should be called 'flails' :D

Spring pressures arent that bad BUT i thought of using titaniumn valve springs also titaniumn retaners BUT a old engine who want to spend all that money on it. Id be happy just not having to change rockers arms. PS any one got some GS 1100 rocker arms or gsxr 1100 rocker arms >> thanx Mike

True but I picked a set up at an auction once with loads of the powder for $25 cause no one else knew what it was for or wanted to learn how to use it.
The stellite build up we do on the hold down clamps is done with a regular old A/O torch using I think a #3 tip. The sales man actually calls it "cold welding". While it is very similar to brazing it takes welding flux and when you grind it sparks yellow...I can't see collors very well so can't tell you what shade.
Contact; Dyeco Inc. email Todd Moyer; TMoyer6@cs.com or call 717-545-1882 cell# 717-579-2340 for more infor. He is the salesman/ welding procedure consultant person I deal with.
