I can't remember if I posted these photos before so please excuse me if I did.
This gun started off as a Crosman 2240 pistol. The tube was changed out to one from a 2260 and I built the beech and barrel assembly. The stock was custom built my a friend from Toronto.

In it's original form the pellet was pushed into the breech by a bolt. It passes over the top of the air transfer port and, in the process, is sometimes damaged. To eliminate this problem I borrowed the idea of a sliding barrel.
The photos should make the loading process clear. Raise what looks like a bolt handle, push it forward (the whole barrel slides), load pellet into the barrel (like a break barrel spring gun), draw back and lock down the handle, cock and shoot.

you HAVE to do a write-up of this conversion!!!! i have a Beeman (Webley) Kodiak in .25 cal. and i'm always looking for something else that is cool-looking and in the same caliber. i think i may have to go search the web right now for a 2240. :)

andy b,,,
Very simple conversion. The Crosman barrels are 7/16" OD.
T.O.W. barrel liners are the same for the 25-AUTO. The original 2240 bolt will work but if you make a new one a tighter seal on the "O" ring is achieved buy over sizing the "O" ring seat just a little. I made a flow through bolt for this one (rather than the probe type that Crosman uses)

G. A.,
thanks for the link!!!! i'm in! i'm going to order the 2240 tomorrow.
so you went with the 25-Auto liner? that is listed as a .243" bore and .250" groove. i see they also have 25-20 liners, but the bore is larger. is the .243" bore what is needed for the .25 cal pellets? i mic'ed some Crow Mag pellets i have and the heads were about .249" and the tails were about .257". they are soft lead, so they should deform down to the 25-Auto dimensions.

The 25-auto liner was recommended to me so that is what I used. The gun is very accurate. I'll try to find time tomorrow to run a pellet through with a rod and post a photo.

Another source for barrel liners is T.J.'s in Kentucky. Calibers and specifications are the same as Track of the Wolf, but pricing is $3.60/inch and $4.50/inch for 7/8" OD liners which are available in a few sizes. Phone number is 859-635-5560. Addess is 3652 Neitner Road, Alexandria, KY 41001.
You will have to mail payment with your order. They are good people to deal with.

G.A.,
the 2240 arrived today! needless to say, i had to run some .22 pellets through it before the barrel liner shows up. it is a nice shooter! i didn't quite understand your original photo on this until i went back and re-read the description. when i opened up my 2240, i thought the barrel looked a little thin. i then noticed that your pistol had a BARREL SHROUD on it. it certainly makes the pistol look bigger with the shroud.
i'm probably going to disassemble it this weekend. will the necessary machining be obvious, or is the only thing i need to do is make a new bolt? i ordered a 10" section of liner. is there any advantage/disadvantage to going with a longer barrel? in the U.S. we don't have barrel or velocity restrictions (at least not at the federal level), and in the great state of PA i can make any type of air rifle/pistol i want. heck, an air machine gun is even legal.
thanks for any advice,

andy,,, another important thing is to either buy from Crosman or make for yourself a metal breech.
There is a great deal of modification info here,, http://www.getphpbb.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=18&mforum=drfaf
You will have to sign up to view the archives section but you find the info very useful.
Metal breech, 10" barrel, barrel shroud, a little valve work, a trigger job, good quality sights, and a nice set of wood grips.
Mine shoots from 490 fps to 520 fps depending on the temperature.
I'm sure that you will enjoy doing the mods and shooting your custom piece. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
