Microsfot just lost a patent infringement lawsuit against a California University for $550,000,000 (US) over ActiveX used in its browser. Mackeralslurp is appealing the decision saying they would never do that "everything is developed in house"...just like the DR-Dos fiasco.

In related news my new hero, IBM has joined forces with Red Hat Linux to shove both their boots up SCO's (Caldera systems, who coincidentaly sued MS over DR-Dos) kester to prevent them from charging $1500/cpu to all users of the Linux OS. Their claim is based on the accusation that parts of their multi-processor kernal were used in Linux (plagiarized from the Berkley 4.2 version of Unix).

It is also interesting to note that another company is suing MS because of a competitors microcode was purchased by MS to be used in XP for "compatibility issues".

Maybe IBM is just pissed at them because they axed their AIX unix license...Naw! That can't be it... http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//wink.gif

The worm going around makes me laugh - the guy that made it supposedly was the message "Evil Bill fix your software so things like this can't happen"...or something like that.

Yeah, like he gives a rats ass if it works or not! Pinheads will still buy it.

Please note that in my defense I was forced to buy it as I was a VAR - but I was able to buy NFR versions ("Not for resale" available only to industry personnel) at substantial discounts) for my business use. I also sold my customers OEM version software with their new hardware at cost. And had to provide OS support myself for that software - now you know why I am braindead.
