ok here is the deal i went to my buddies for the weekend and we tried and idea on first of all a 90 amp 250volt arc and here it goes tried a carbinate tourch on it works good but short duty really short so out came a fan to keep the transformer cool great idea we got there and it wokrs great 100% duty and then some, so he gave me the fan and i riged her up to my ac-100 and its only a 70 amp 120volt..
any how i could never even get an arc to start on this sucker with the next size stick up from the smallest ones and so on went the fan and it worked great and made a nice beed as well and i ran it til the stick was all used up and no problem at all, so out came the carnbonite tourch and it works slick as well no hassel no shut down either ..
so when i get some rods that are the largest this ac-100 supports ill try and run them and see what happens .. but to now have 2 sizes alone and longer arc times iam very happy with the little machine now even more so ...
so some issues are now solved and other bonuses came from it as well ..
my next experment is to build my own arc welder from scratch eventually....
