I have a mechanicaly sound BP EZ-Trak mill that has been giving Me trouble for longer than I care to remember. I know that it is going to die in the midle of a job, I just don't know when or how bad it will be.

So I a m wondering if I can use the existing motors, ball screws, scales etc. and swap out the ''Bridgeport box'' for a modern system ?

Servo or stepper? Either way, yes you can reuse a lot of what you have. If it is servo with scale feedback I would look at a CNCBrain with the analog boards to drive the existing drives. There is also the DSPMC/IP Motion Controller that will control analog servo drives.

If it is stepper you might consider replacing the steppers with either newer style steppers or go servo.
