View Full Version : Lincoln PowerMIG 200 opinions sought...
I have an opportunity to purchase a used Lincoln PowerMIG 200 with a spool gun for $800.00. Was wondering if anybody had any experience with this machine and would be willing to share their experiences, good and bad. Thanks.

I have the Lincoln Powermig 215 which is essentially the same machine and I love it. Of all the migs I've either had or used this one has got to be the smoothest machine I've run. The arc quality is the feature that sold me, and it has all the capacity I need.
I don't have the Lincoln spool gun so I can't comment on it.
If everything is in good working order I would not hesitate to buy it at that price.
Funny that you ask for info on this machine as two days ago I ran into this page on a welding forum (http://weldingweb.com/showthread.php?t=23729)and it almost echos my thoughts. This guy can weld too!

I would snatch that up if I were you.
I had a powermig 200 as a hobbiest for about 6 years. Built several off road vehicles with full roll cages in them, dual winch mounts, lifts, solid front axle swaps, etc. Did a couple of gates, couple of pieces of metal furniture too.
It never missed a beat and was one sweet welder.
The powermig 200 needs an additional circuit board for it to run a spool gun. $300-400 if I remember right. then the cost of the spoolgun ($400+).
I sold mine and got a Miller 210 on a deal similar to your powermig one.. It has the circuit board as std equip. from the factory (spoolgun ready). Spool gun was still $400+. I wanted the spoolgun so I could run .025 wire (without changing out the wand, drive rollers, etc). and keep .035 there too.
Even today I'd probably buy that powermig if it was here locally and sell my 210 (not that there is anything wrong with the 210). I did like the wand on the powermig better and the cheap plastic wheels on the Miller are just that, cheap.
Thanks both for the replies, and Willy for the link (some amazing beads that guy ran). I think I'm going to jump on it.

If you don't buy it I will!
