View Full Version : checking my work

The old motor in my Sheldon died (bearings) so I picked up a Dayton 3/4hp 230v to replace it. The motor is model 5K460C and the drum switch I'm using is a GE model CR102B. Both components have their respective schematics but I want to run this past people who are in the know and make sure they're compatible. The drum switch is powered by a magnetic switch.

Here are some photos of the docs (sorry, they are big).

yes the "t" leads are all labeled the same and have the same function from the limited view i can see of the print. t1 and 4 are one winding and don't change and T3 and 5 are switched to reverse. if the motor goes in the wrong direction swap 1 and 4 or 3 and 5. to make it right.

The switch schematic shows T2 splicing into T3.

I'm assuming I can just run a jumper from the T2 lug to the T3 lug on the switch?

I wired this motor and switch up this evening. It works on one direction, but when I try to reverse the rotation it trips the breaker at the panel.

I'll be double checking my wiring tomorrow when I can look at it fresh, but until then does anyone have any ideas?

The switch says "instantly reversible 5 lead motor" on the schematic. And the motor that came out did have 5 leads. Is it that I have the wrong switch for the motor I'm running?
