Converting paint ball gun to shoot pellets

Anyone ever made a conversion like this? My son wants me to make a CO2 powered pellet gun and thinks I should cannibalize his marker.

I have been wanting to do a similar project to a Tippman propane powered paintball gun.
The only idea I had was to make bushings to make the barrel fit inside the paintball barrel.
Can you weigh a couple of paintballs so I can get an idea of the possible weight of a suitable pellet?

I bought one of these probably 35 years ago out of the back of a magazine. It was an automatic BB gun powered by a can of R-12. Pull and spray. My parents were less than impressed and I had to pay for a few windows. You could empty a box of 5000 BB's quick as well as the old man's stash of R-12. I do not believe I ever hit anything that I aimed at with that thing.

I also want to shoot 22 cal pellets, if the paintball is heavier than the pellet the pellet will have more velocity. If the pellet is half the weight of the paintball it should be able to drive it twice as fast!

Neat idea. However, the paintball guns are usually high-volume./low pressure (approx 160psi) The pellet rifles are run straight from the CO2 at around 900psi (depending on temp, of course) and are low volume/high pressure.

Paintballs weight around 3.2grams, pellets run between 6.9 and 30 grains + depending on the caliber.

a friend of mine had the UZI model of those BB machine guns. yes, they did go through a lot of BBs, and R-12. :) sometimes we would accidentally shoot each other in the legs when aiming at the ground and such, but it never drew any blood. i recall seeing similar models for sale a few years ago, but not lately.

This is an article about the Crosman 707, which is just a Crosman 150 with a big barrel.

I think you would have to make some changes in the valve assembly and remove the pressure regulator. Other than that, I don't see why you couldn't make the change.

Or you could just buy some paintballs from a county a little east, or west, of here. I understand they use lead in lots of stuff... :p

Got it from a confidental source that works for the company that is designing one. They are in the final testing stage of just such an animal.
