This is my first post and first i just want to say this is a great site, tons of info.
i just pick up an older dayton drill press, a mod. 3z325 ser.XH, and I'm looking for any infomation on it. i need to replace the chuck, and not sure how to tell what to order, i knock off the one on my other press and it a 3JT and it way to large. The chuck that on it is "JACOBS =SM8K33=NO.33TAPER I checked at JACOBS web sit and i still not sure what i need. thanks for any help that anyone can give

Welcome to the site.

The chuck you have is probably a light duty chuck for OEM. Any chuck with a JT33 mount can be used. In the Jacobs line, these are the 33 or 34-33 chucks. Both are 1/2" capacity, plain bearing chucks. Several manufacturers have similar sized chucks that will also fit.
