That is really neat. I especially liked the fact that it (according to the seller) belonged to a puppet maker for some 50 years. What a neat piece of work. I love tools/etc with an interesting history.

That is cool!

Problem is/if I ever found something like that there would be no way I could get in the shop. The better half would have nothing doing and it would be at the house full of pencil crayons and craft supplies and all that other important stuff...:)

Over the last few years I have been collecting old engineering tool boxes of people I have known.
Many of my mentors have either passed on or are heading that way and I ask outright if I can have their toolboxes when they peg out.

Sounds very cheeky but everyone so far was been more than willing knowing that they will be appreciated and not just sold on for a profit.

So far I have six boxes, the last two coming in close succession from Glynn Jones, Myford's old development manager and his brother Dennis who built the Jones racers when they passed on.
Dennis even left instructions that his box was to go to me.

I have sights on 4 more but hopefully non of these are imminent possessions.

One guy Norman has this fantastic Swiss prototyping set, like an erector set but all milled links and gear cut gears, no stamped metal bars and die castings, all machined.

Every so often I ring him up to ask if he's still alive and not to forget his Mecanno set in his will, he just laughs so I live in hope.

I've also been promised a Barber Coleman gear hobber from a contributer of MEW when he dies as he knows it will get used and appreciated. Everytime he sees me he's says not forgot your gear hobber but I'm not ready yet. :D

Keep collecting and stay alive.

Seeing that I am 'younger' then you I will ask now:
When you," kick the bucket","bit the biscuit","start pushing up roses",etc
Can I have some of your old tools and a part of your book library. (shop books and engineering books NOT your 'dirty book collection')
Hope it is not too soon as everyone is still talking about that Jackson fella
Farrah was much nicer .Too bad she had to go on the same day.
