View Full Version : Flood coolant hardware?

The flood coolant system on my lathe has some of the 1/4 inch snap together plastic line for adjusting and positing the coolant nozzle. This is stiff and hard to adjust. Do I just need to get some new line? Several brands are available. Is there a brand preference? Larger sizes are also shown does this have any advantage? I have also seen metal flexable sprial wrap that appear to work pretty good. Your experience and guidance is appreciated!

Try taking it off a giving it a bath in warm soapy water. Some coolants like the one I use, once dry turns almost waxy which tends to bind things up until its wet again. Its better to be stiff than flopping around.

Thats a good question.
The problem is that the lines get crude and adjusting becomes a nightmare after awhile.
I take mine off and throw it in some 409 cleaner until i can rotate it around as it was when new.
What do you other fellows do ?

"Its better to be stiff than flopping around."
Never have truer words been spoken.

"Loc-Line" is cheap as dirt at your local metalworking supplier (or MSC, Enco et al), but I've had good luck dunking old Loc-Line in an ultrasonic cleaner.
