I have someone interested in buying some of my odds and ends that I have laying around, and 1 item is my Alis Chalmers motor...
He is going to ask me to name a price, and I am not sure where to start.....
Can I get some considered opinions?

You know what they say about opinions.............:D
Mine is, unless it is something very special or perhaps the unusual name may draw the attention of an Allis-Chalmers collector, out side of that, small used 3ph motors are just plain cheap, that's the long and short of it.

AFAIK,Allis hasn't made a motor in awhile so it's probably got some age on it.
At work we sell used 3~ motors and drives.$10/hp is the going rate,$15 if it's multi-speed or special. We get $50/hp for NOS surplus motors(still in the box/skid).
That said when the scrap price was up we gutted about 10 ton of motors from 3hp-100hp,they don't move fast unless they are NOS surplus. Many plant managers won't risk production on a used motor and the market is restricted to smaller plants and sawmills.
Basically get what you can,but don't expect a lot.
