Series 1, Series 2, 2J head etc are terms used to describe Bridgeport Mills. Can someone explain the meaning / significance of these terms. I have a 9X42 Drive S/N 2J 38082. Front of Quill J160681

BRJ sometimes called BR1J is the machine which has the step pulley head

BR2J has the varie speed head ..

common table sizes

9 X 36 9x 42 and 9 x 48

both are series one

weight under 1 ton.

then you have the round ram models of olde

the series 2 is a much beefier machine ..11 by 58 table ..bigger motor ..

weight 2.25 tonnes

and some models are cnc
