A few weeks ago I posted a video of my "Hit and Miss steam engine on here. This wasn't my design concept, although I did have some design input on it. It ran very well, and it had a special intake valve with a pneumatically slaved exhaust valve. Although it ran well and showed the action of the "Hit and Miss" governor function, it didn't have as much power as an engine with 3/4" bore and 1 1/4" stroke should have had. I have been wondering how it would behave with a conventional valve train on it, so this week I designed and built a conventional valve set up, driven by an eccentric cam. The results are very pleasing, and in addition to a lot more power, the engine will run at remarkably low RPM, which is generally a sign of a very efficient valve design. So---this is the same engine running with a conventional valve set-up.---Brian
