I've got a photo downloaded from MSNBC long ago set as my desktop background. I'd like to send it to someone, but I can't find the file. I've looked all through My Documents and My Pictures. Right clicking on it and looking at Properties only leads to Display, which identifies it as Desktop Background. Searching for that gets no results.

Where should I look for the file for the photo?

C:WINDOWS\WEB\WALLPAPER

They should be jpg files. Or I should say picture files.

All the standard issue wallpapers are there, but not the one I'm looking for.

Look in:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft

You'll need to show hidden files/folders to get there. Conversely, you could go to start --> run and then type in the aforementioned directory and hit enter. Anyway, the file should be there, entitled "Wallpaper1.bmp"

Thanks. It was actually under ....\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox as a .bmp file named Desktop Background.

In the "Desktop" tab of the "Display Properties" window, click the "Browse..." button. That should hopefully show you the directory in which the image is stored.
