Looks like I may have up to a dozen 1911’s coming in for a restoration. Since I primarily work on Winchesters and Colt SAA’s I’ve got some learning to do.

What’s the best way to recut the serrations on the slide, I’m thinking a dozen or so angled cutters (slitting saws with the correct cutting angle) on a horizontal mill. Knock them all out in one pass. I know there are folks that have done this, just looking for other options/Ideas.

Thanks

Mike

Mike:

I do mine on a vertical mill using a dovetail cutter with the head tilted. That way allows me to create an 'undercut sawtooth' serration. Clamp the slide on the table at an angle to match the grip and then cut as desired.
