Hi Lane,
Happy Birthday, when I was in my 20's I hoped I would be dead by 60. My brother didn't make it, died in his early 50's. I will turn 67 next mo. and hope (and feel) that I make it to 100. Think young and act as young as you are able and if you drink have a (1 only) martini for me.;)

Well, Lane, you seem to be getting well fed.
Happy birthday and happy veterans day. even it it is a day late. Forgot to send your birthday gift yesterday, so I ate it for supper. Still hope to make it down there to NW LA to visit one of these days. Maybe when it is cold up here and you are basking in the 60's I make it.
Take care of the eye. The headaches will gradually go away.

Congratulations Lane on reaching a metal workers milestone. You realize we who are over 60 no longer have to endure big expenditures in stainless steel hardware don't you? At 63 I figure anything I buy today will last me till I'm too old to care about it. Not the same with the younger snuts here on the forum :D :D

11-12-2009, 10:13 PM
Just a thought or two.

At 60 you are twice as old as you were at 30, three times as old as you were at 20 and four times as old as you were at 15 etc. etc.

OK - so much for looking back.

Now for a look forward.

On the day you are 66 years, 8 months and 20 days old you will be 2/3 of the way into the month that is 2/3 of the way into your 67th year and so will be 2/3 of the way to your 100th. birthday at which point you will be 1 day into your 101st. year and commencing your second century.

Have you noticed that to most or many people that "15" is a critical age difference?

Anyone who 15 years older is "old/er" and anyone 15 years younger is "young/er" than you are.

So, anyone at 60 thinks that anyone at 45 is "young", those at 45 think that anyone at 30 is "young" and those at 30 think that anyone at 15 is young.

The converse also applies - very much so!!!!!

Anyone at 15 thinks that everyone else is "way too young or old to know anything about anything" etc.

Now, about all those years you wished away and/or wasted when you were say under 18 (and later too)? Would you like them back again/now?

Happy birthdays all.

Happy Birthday to George as well and thanks for keeping track of this crazy nut-house forum ;)

Thanks for the wishes Lane, Craig and George! I reckon my next Birthday will be more of a milestone. I oughta be finishing up my undergrad and shop-hunting ... I mean "house"-hunting ...

OT - I'm not sure about all that. 36 doesn't sound old at all. 6 sounds pretty young, though ... :D
