The Woodsmaster was made from 1936-1950. The 300 Savage was introduced in 1940. Total production was 56,091 units. Your serial suggests that it was made about 3/4 of the way through production. I would guess perhaps 1940-1945 maybe.

If you will call Remington Arms..and tell them you would like to date a firearm they can give you all the specifics about YOUR gun. They keep records on all the firearms they make and they are quite happy to research information while you are on the phone. 1-800-243-9700

If you do happen to call Remington, let me know if my estimate was close.

I work with firearms all the time and like to see if my estimates of age as related to serial number are even close.

Thanks
Mac.

Thanks for the reply. Ok....so my range of 40-45 was a little off..by 3 years.

I trust you found Remington very helpful. I know I do every time I call them. Nice folks. They run a good operation. I find their product to be consistant and accurate more often than others. I own several Remingtons and all have been tack drivers right out of the box. Good stuff. I do like the big green R.

Cheers
Mac.
