It is cold and rainy out today, and my wife needs some software installed on her computer. The installation CDs are somewhere on the big pile of junk I call "my desk", so I figured I may as well clean it off and make both our lives easier.
As a point of reference, whenever people post those "I rebuilt my lathe/milling machine/etc." threads and mention the Machine Tool Reconditioning book, I always think to myself, "self, you should get a copy of that book".
So I'm tossing junk in the trash left and right and putting stuff on shelves and just generally getting things organized. I have a pile of old B&S literature so I started an area to keep those books, as well as my old copy of Machinery's Handbook. Buried at the bottom of this one pile in the corner I see what looks like an old hardcover textbook. Low and behold it is a brand new copy of MTR. I checked the receipt in it and I bought it almost four YEARS ago to the day. I would have been really ticked off at myself if I had bought another copy. It isn't like it sells for $5.
