1 hour 25 minutes.

09 was no different for me than any of the last 5 years. I hope 2010 will be a little more exciting.

Well 2009 is gone, for me it was not a bad year really, just not one that I made any progress in and went backwards financially, still nothing bad happened, there is a lot to be said about that.

Well, I went outside in the cold with the full moon and saluted the new year with a bit of Bowmore.

Happy New Year everyone and I hope it is better than the last for all of us.

Still 2009 here. 2009 was the year that sucked. All sorts of thing worked out poorly for me.

However, there is a very significant bright spot. I made enough money on my investments that my wife just went out and bought her Christmas present today, a brand new Jeep Patriot 4x4 with CVT AutoStick and Electronic Stability Control. She absolutely loves it. I insisted that she do all the research and decision making herself and stayed almost completely out of the way. It's all hers and in her name only. I haven't seen her smile so much in a long time. :D

No more "naughties" and just more "teens"?

Good or bad - or just not so good - or not so bad?

Happy 2010 everyone.

There were probably many, many times this year when I may have
Disturbed you,
Troubled you,
Pestered you,
Irritated you,
Bugged you,
Or got on your nerves....

So today I just wanted to tell you..........

.a new year and a new decade....
The decade doesn't change for another year. Just as the stupid press
didn't seem to know when the century changed.
Thee wasen't a year ZERO so to get ten iyears in a decade (if one can
count to ten) 10 is last year of a decade. So if it's possible to count
to a hundred ,starting with ONE then the century isn't over till (and
including ) onehundred.
ie. The 20th century didn't end till Dec 31 2000, and this "decade"
won't end till Dec 31 2010.
For all the mathamatically impared. :-)

There is one slight problem with that logic. It doesn't take into account the missing days in our current calender. In 1582 The Pope decreed Sept 3 to be Sept 14th instead. To further complicate matters different countries are missing different numbers of days since Great Britain didn't switch until 1752.

Bottom line is that it is all completely arbitrary. Personally I like Julian Date which is not the Ordinal Date (day of the year) and not to be confused with any sort of calendar. It starts as a count of days plus the decimal fraction of a day to six places since noon Universal Time on January 1, 4713 BCE. The enumerated days change at noon which removes any ambiguity about what day astronomical observations are made. It has no months or years. The Julian Date at this writing is 2455197.130633.
