anyone ever heard of a jmt360x1000 lathe? its actually a 14x40 gearhead with a d1-6 spindle,mt3 tailstock,inch/metric threading and footbrake. no chuck and no tools other than a 4-way toolpost. it looks good from the pics,is close enough to pick up and he has the only bid so far(noon Fri auction ends). from the minimal infi ive given,is this lathe a keep or pass? thanks, mike

You might have had a little AM/PM glitch on ending time:

lol can't even sell a lathe for 99 cents...

Nice giant shield on the carriage.. boy those would be useful when turning with carbide and those red hot meteroids start falling all over the shop.
I wonder what the 4th control rod along the bed is... I know the first 3 are leadscrew, keyed feed rod, and forward/reverse/stop selector..

Maybe it is a seperate feed rod so that cross feed and carriage movement can be adjusted seperately. Maybe it is a feed for auxiliary stuff on the carriage, an auxiliary spindle or even a tool post grinder! I really dont know but 99c seems quite a bargain, almost worth it just to solve the puzzle.

It is made by Jinan First Machine Tool works and seems like a current model. Specs:

It is a Mazak Mate clone...A hell of a good design but how good the JFMT build is I do not know, but I see quite a few larger JFMT lathes around the place..

I would not rate JFMT machines as low end Chinese...

Here is a genuine Mazak http://www.machineryvalues.com/14-Engine-Lathe-Mazak-1440-Mate-Inch-Metric-Gap-p/143332.htm

thanks, guys. the info i posted was from my friends memory. after i made this post he called with the e-bay info. i looked it over and could have sworn it had approx 22 hrs left. when i looked a short while ago,it showed auction ended with no bids. i dont know if he won or not. it did look like a pretty good machine, use and abuse wise. mechanically, who knows? again, thanks.mike
