Perhaps because I live in a ranch/farm environment, everyone I know has Bag Balm in the house, shop, truck, or vet box and use it for all kinds of things.

So... do you have some and what do you use it for?

When my wife had her kennel she used it when her hands get chapped from tending the dogs in the winter.

I've got three tins left over from when we used it on the horses, keep them in the medicine cabinet. Yahoo article says they sell for $11 buck a tin.

The little man at Google said:
Bag Balm, in its ubiquitous green tin, has not changed much since its introduction in 1899. It has, however, become more and more widely known as a reliable, gentle and remarkably effective moisturizer for not just cow udders, but also anything that might become chapped or in need of lubrication on a person's body:eek:

Cracked Hands, cracked feet, general moisturizing of skin after it has been abused and has a tendency to dry out.

It is great for diabetics, as diabetyics have feet that can dry out and crack. Thin coat of this on feet helps do wonders.

Also works for diaper rash on young kids - used sparingly.

May cure cancer, do not know that yet....

I've used it for years on my telemark ski boots. Helps waterproof them and keeps them chamois soft.

There are not many products that have been around for 111 years! I think it's main ingredient is lanoline. It come in 1 oz to 1 gallon containers. I can't remember when there wasn't a can or two at home when I was a kid and I know we have some in the medican cabinet now.
