Mark Jones alias aboard epsilon kindly bought me a bunch of 3 phase plugs and sockets which I paid him for .I thanks him for his kindness anyway I am adding a few more machines and I rather than bothering Mark ordered from ebay identical plugs male 2 of at 14 from ebay anyway one of them arrived and guess what it is identical in everyway exept it's too big Mark could you tell me yet again where you got them sorry to be a nuisance but I will have to order some more of the correct size my question is why do they make red identical plugs in 2 different sizes all pins are the same configuration as said colour is the same.I don't understand this dioesn any one else and are they able to explain this.Alistair

Because they are different ratings.
The smaller is 16 amp per phase and the larger are 32 amp per phase.

The number 16 or 32 is usually in the description. What was the Ebay number

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/3-PHASE-PLUG_W0QQitemZ330405967157 is a 32 amp plug, big one.

310202386506 is a 16 amp 5 pin

250476197045 is a 16 amp 4 pin

The ones i got you were 16 amp

The ones you've just got, must have been 32 amp

The make you are after which in my opinion is the best.............look at the initials of the make of the one you have already three initials beginning with P.......or you could end up with one of the old fashioned ones that are difficult to wire up.

edit ...the good ones are made by PCE in Austria

i cant understand why there isn't any electrical wholesaler up there where you live.

i get mine from another wholesaler now ...nearer

http://www.electricalwholesalesupplies.co.uk/

the place were i got them from before was GDR electrical ltd deeside industrial estate , flintshire

they have now changed their name ..cant remember what it is now ..but phone number still the same

which is :-

01244 289343

the 16 amp 4 pin should be about 3.50 -5.50
