Running Firefox 3.6 which i have just updated but it's not remembering cookies for my common sites like this one.

Every time I shut down and reopen Firefox I have to log on again.

The previous version also did this hence the upgrade, IE doesn't do it and remembers cookies.

Looked in tools and everything seems the be OK on the options, rather annoying to have to keep logging on.

Help ??

Please don't suggest using Opera, Chrome etc, not going to happen, need help with Firefox.

John,

Sounds like you have looked at all the settings.

http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/enabling+and+disabling+cookies

are you seeing these options/

Yes got all those settings.

I even put this site in on allow but when I restarted Firefox I still had to log on and the site was missing from the allow box.

Machine has had a recent reinstall of XP - 2 weeks ago but has been working file, this only happened yesterday / today.

Looks like it's not saving the cookies.

Is your "History" still there or is that being deleted when you close the browser?

Panic over.
It needed two reboots, one right and one left

Yeah, I don't know what's going on at Mozilla. They released an urgent update to 3.5.8, and then followed up with 3.6 (a major release) a week later.

3.6 has updated the Gecko rendering engine (that renders the HTML). Need to see if anyone has benchmarked it yet.

The next release of Firefox is code-named Lorentz, and will put add-ons like Flash in a seperate process like IE and Chrome do, so when it crashes it doesn't take down the whole browser.

Problems with cookies in Firefox can often be fixed by deleting all (or selected) cookies. Then, it will remember new cookies you add. Apparently the cookie jar gets too full . . .

What do you mean, I'm already up to NCSA Mosaic 2.0, how many more updates are there to come? Heard tell of some science fiction ideas called Netscape but it will never catch on down here in deepest Wales.:D

Salutations
