I came across these little things. Plastic tops that press on to an appropiate socket cap screw. This one is M8. A nice time saver and surprisingly well made too.

I wonder what they are called so I can find some of my own.

McMaster Carr calls them Plastic Press-Fit Thumb Screw Heads. They are available in both inch and metric sizes.

McMaster-Carr has various styles under "Socket Head Cap Screw Knobs."

I like the "rosette" style for good grip:

SPI shear-loc knobs is what they were called last time I bought them.
