Hi all,
I got an email from Thrud this morning with bad news.
His other eye is having the same problem now.It happened Friday.
He told me he won't be able to reply to the board for a while as he put it "I can't see s@#$ now".
I wish him well and hope for a speedy recovery as I'm sure all of you do too.

A thought came to me after I posted this.I looked for an email get well soon card but couldn't find a decent one in the limited amount of time I have right now.
Does anyone know a good site for ecards that has some geet well soon stuff?
Or is someone here that is good at drawing/photo shopping etc. could come up with something we could all add out signatures to,it could be sent on to him instead of 40-11 posts here that he will have trouble seeing anyway.
Just a random thought,Robert.

It is not a good practice to use the greeting card sites as many of these are set up for the sole purpose of havesting e-mail addresses. Read the terms and conditions carefully before using one of these. For instance, Hallmark Cards does collect your e-mail address and does share it with third parties. They state they don't share the e-mail address of the recipient so if you don't mind getting some spam from them you might use them to send a get well soon card.

To Thrud, best wishes for a quick and complete recovery. I hope the vision loss is not permanent. We need you here!

the sound cards have a speech text program in the utilities,

Someone should write a utility to load this page's html and speak it to thrud.. Kinda like a old CYLON off battlestar galactica but it works.

I think this utility is in windows thou, Thrud has Linux.. Any ideals?

From Thrud:
My vision is pretty bad right now. Like looking through a filthy
windsheild. Reading is a real chore. I am still waiting to see the
specialist. My new medicatios are kicking the crap out of me right now and
I am weak as a kitten - on the plus side I am getting lots of sleep but
along with the sleep is a knotted up neck and shoulders - hurts like hell.
Good thing I am back on the opiates. The drugs are giving me a severe case
of cotton mouth as well. Other than that I actually feel pretty good.
Can't wait tell I can see better...

Tell everyone I said hello and I miss their banter

Peace & grace

Uncle Thrud is a wise and thoughtful person, some young machinist, should go and visit Thrud and write a book based upon his life and experiences.

Thrud has been a constant on this board for the two years I have been visiting here. I have been fortunate to have him e-mail me as well in the past, but alas, have lost his e-mail address.

My best wishes are for him and all who are supporting him at his home.

A thought....would the moderator be able to forward any e-mails of cards or whatever to THRUD (Dave)? I would ask gamachinist, but with junk mailer people stealing addresses, I hesitate to do so.

Get well Thrud, and hope something can be arranged.
