morse taper adapters

I'm in need of some additional morse taper adapters/sleeves.

There are hardened and ground throughout and hardened tang only adapters available, which should I look for and why?

They're for a Buffalo #22 drill press and 13x40 lathe..

offhand, Id wager a harden taper will last longer, but a soft taper will be less likey to damage your spindle in a 'whoops' event.
