A Friend of mine is moving to the US, and so his workshop has to go.
He asked me if Id like a home made Jig Bore, well what are you going to do.....

Course head adjustment by big hand wheel, fine feed by the smaller one.

Its built from an SIP Inspection Microscope. Needs a little finishing, but the important bits are done.
The travels are 2 inches by 3 inches, but with 0.00005" verynears.
Ideal for small parts like the helicopter bits I make.

I happen to have a T slotted table lying around thats the correct size:

Think thats going to work.

I might replace the chuck with ER16 collets, as I have a full set of them, and they should have less runout.

The ways have no play in them, they use a pair of opposed V's with bearings running in them. Very nicely built.

Sweet, I like the smaller precision stuff as well. But it seem's the nicer tools cost alot more then the same thing in monster size.

I would have been tempted to bring that with me. I'm sure it would have fit in the overhead luggage compartment. :D
