I bought a Bridgeport 2J a while ago and I am refurbishing the mill. I have broken the unit down so I could clean the 27 years of gunk and chips out of the thing. At present I am ready to reassemble the quill housing. I don’t quite understand the oiling system for the quill housing. My question is do I grease all the worm gears and the other gears? And what about the shafts that passes thought the brass bearings? For example the manual forward/reverse shaft has a brass bearing in the plate that attaches to the ram. I don’t see how this spot can be lubed without applying grease during reassembly. I did grease the worm gear for traming the head. I am using “Supper Lube” synthetic grease.

Thanks for any help.

Some oil makes it's way down from the top via the the top brass bushing, but precious little. I fill (about half full) the three caviites with an NLGI #2 synthetic grease.
