View Full Version : Making a barrel extension, specs for 2B 5/8 x 24 threads?

Hello all,

I am making an extension so I can work on barrels shorter than 32", through the headstock. I am planning to thread the extension for 5/8" x 24 tpi threads, that way I can thread most all blanks I would ever work on for this thread pattern, and the 5/8" x 24 is a very common thread pattern for brakes anyway, so it would likely come to use for already threaded barrels.

At any rate, my questions comes up in trying to find the specs for 2B tolerance on the major/minor diameters. When searching around for UNEF thread specs, I can't seem to find the 2B tolerances.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Max: .5900
Min: .5800
Mean: .5850

Is there a tolerance for the major? something over 0.6250?

Are you wanting External?
That would be 2A

They are
Min: .6166
Max: .6238
Mean: .6202

3A would be a max of .625

That makes perfect sense! I am talking internal threads, and was thinking the major might be something over 0.6250 to allow for some type of coating on threads. I see now that it is compensated by the major on the external side of things.

I greatly appreciate your help!

I have the 12th edition. Perhaps I should buy a newer one LOL. I can find some specs in there, but nothing 2B specific.
