This flying model of a butterfly would be a fun project. Where can we get the plans? http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn18946-replica-butterfly-flies-just-like-the-real-thing.html

I'd like to see a flying model of a large bird too, like this Great Blue Heron I photographed this afternoon taking off from a perch atop a nearby chimney.

Great pic Allan - as always.

I have been very impressed with your attention to detail - including photography - ever since I first saw your pics here.

model airplane news had planes for a glider about 8 or 10 years ago. it was shaped like a hawk and had balsa "feathers" on the wingtips that moves to act like ailerons. I googled it and couldnt find any pictures, so i will dig through my issues to see what i can find..

I saw a gas-powered free flight ornithopter fly many years ago at a model field in Los Angeles. There are plans around but you'd have to search for a while.

Several companies manufacture various sizes of "flappers". From what I've read, most of them fly quite well.

I'd like to build one I saw in a model magazine. A guy in Florida took a large Macaw kite and turned it into an R/C powered model. Quite colorful, and a great small field flyer.
