a couple months ago i picked this up in a trade deal with a neighbor. he had owned it for several years without doing anything with it, so i have no idea who set it all up originally. when i got it fully put back together as well as i could, i could see that the brackets holding the motor to the tray/stand are just cobbled together out of some angles from an old tablesaw and some sort of bracket that i can't identify.

the attachment is nowhere near square, and it bugs the living hell out of me, so i'm going to re-do the way the motor attaches. i've looked around and seen plenty of pictures off the motor mounting when it is on a cabinet stand or a bench, but i haven't seen any when it uses the steel legs like i have. does anyone have one of these, or something similar on legs with a motor hanging off the back? i would like to have this only sitting on the stand legs if possible and maybe just brace the motor off to the legs? the following are just the pictures i took when i dragged it home, along with a picture of the mill/drill i just picked up. that last one you can barely make out how the motor sits behind the lathe. i'll try to get out and take a better shot tomorrow.

Nice model B you have there. My back shaft for my floor model A mounts on the floor. I will attach another photo but it does not show much because of the limited space around my lathe. Gary P. Hansen

Can not see much in this photo. The red thing is the pulley guard that can be seen in the first photo. You can see the base of the back shaft is attached to the floor (actually a wood frame) right behind the cast iron lathe legs. Hope this helps. Gary P. Hansen

I chose to under drive my 9C. It let me mount it on a table that is only 24 inches deep.
