Hi
I am thinking about building a Tube amp.
Something with 30 watts or so
Want to run a CD player through it
Know a little about electrical...enough to build a cnc mill and lathe :)
any help and sites?

I'm really surprised to see triodes in the final amp stage of this project. Even in parallel. They aren't very efficient, but quite linear. Cool stuff - I got my start in electronics design using tubes.

If you want some military grade peanut tubes for a preamp I have a handfull of them. I don't know what type but I can go look if you are interested. They are fully shielded and run on low voltage. They don't use sockets but have wire leads instead.

One of my first mandatory projects in high school electronics class was to build a 5 tube superhet short wave radio. It was supposed to be the final test for that semester but I convinced the teacher to let me challenge it. After that we did all solid state.
