View Full Version : Bijur 'one shot' pump oiler repair (sad/poor quality casting)

This pump came in the package deal on an Enco 9x42 mill I got some 3 years ago. I have to assume it is really a Bijur pump, the decal came off within a few days of adding oil to the tank and I guess I vacuumed it up, so aside from 'looking' exactly like a Bijur, I cant say for sure..

Within a few months the 3 outlet fitting (Zamack looking casting) broke off -- so I think, "thats crappy" and proceeded to find a piece of scrap brass and turn out a replacement... Thats the shiny brass fitting in the pic.

So, then the other day I lean over to give it a 'one shot' and the whole dxxx top casting (more Zamack looking stuff) crumbled like a Graham cracker!! This time I think its more than crappy, and sorta burned some paint off the wall talking to it!

So there arose one of those situations where we can actually use our machines to do a real "feel good" repair. Not an especially big deal to make this top, but it seemed to be a good little project to take a break from some of the other -- er -- topics being posted lately:rolleyes:

Anybody else had problems with this really poor casting?

Jeez! I stumbled across a NOS automatic Bijur, and I haven't found a use for it yet. But apparently we need to stock-up on tools before everything turns to outsourced crap...

I've no idea who makes that oiler - I don't think Bijur uses plastic tubing inside the oiler, though. I believe Bijur also has a drain plug in the reservoir.

This is an interesting case of metal fatigue happening in the absence of large amounts flexing.

Unless of course you just lean on it with everything you had one day. :)

Nice repair though, I'd say it's safe for quite some time to come.

Very shiny and nice. Isent it great repairing things and MAKING THEM BETTER at the same time?

Looks like a Bijur "clone"...
