Just bought the 48in box and pan brake on sale at $550 with free shipping. Ordered three replacement fingers for customizing and got free shipping on that also. I am pleased with the quality and performance. Been watching for a used one for a couple yrs now, but none seem to be around. This area is not a tool desert either. Bob.

I'm not sure, to be honest. I am a student but I think those codes will work in any case. I just get the codes emailed to me because I do have a .edu email address and I checked a box that I'm a student in my Enco "profile".

I just tried it George, works for me. This is the reaction of the Enco order system to the promo code:

"Promo Code SCHOOL: 20% off orders of $149 or more (excluding machinery)! Ends 8/24/12 - Order minimum of $149.00 is required. Please update Cart and re-apply Promo Code."

Do any combination of Enco discounts and free shipping ever make a 6" Kurt milling vise "affordable"?

Or am I dreaming?

Try using Search Tempest to locate one on Craig's List. They should fit inside a flat rate box. :) Just have the seller reinforce the box on the inside with some thin plywood, Masonite, or similar material. I've had four 1000 # capacity iron casters, a great big 6" American made swivel bench vice, a 10" 4 jaw chuck, and similar items sent to me this way.

Depends on what "affordable" is to you. I paid $327 to my door for one in June 11. I think it was on sale in the flyer and then got a discount + shipping code on top of that.

Was that a D688 or something else? Yes, I would consider that to be 'affordable'. Guess that I need to keep an eye out for sales.

It was a D675 that Enco now says is discontinued. Looks like there is a decent price jump to the D688. Got to pay for that extra 2.8" of opening.

The 675 is plenty of vise for me so far.

Just used SCHOOL and SHIPAUG for 20% off and free shipping on $149 or more. I believe the school discount expires today though.
