View Full Version : Red dot on pistol w/rail

I have a taurus 9mm and a sw mp 9mm both with rails. I would like to mount a red dot sight using the rail so as not to change the org. by drilling etc.
Has any one done this or know of any mounts aval. ?

Have not done this and do not have a rail mount, but think it would be relatively easy thing to make with a milling machine. I would think it should be a stock item though.
They use to be around but I haven't seen one in some time. If memory serves me correctly you make the block to go on the rail and make it a smidgeon wider than the widest portion of the front of the pistol. Then make the upper mount which is an inverted U shape with the Picatinney or weaver rail on top. Make it high enough to clear the front sight when the slide moves to the rear. Mount one of the micro red dots and go.
Also seems to me that someone made a red dot and mount that mounted in place of the rear site. Not sure how well they held up to the pounding but that would be another thought..
Good luck and have fun...
