I didn't want to clutter up Evans "survey" thread so I started this one.
Thrud, are you as good as new or still on the mend?

I can see a little better, but I have still not been able to get into the specialist for treatment - it takes a long time for an appointment. I can't drive anywhere except around noon, once the sun gets low I am screwed. I also have temporary blindness when coming from outside to inside a darkened room like a theatre. Other than being a little light sensitive it is getting better to see. I can actually read the KBC sales flyer now (no good deals anyway).
This is the first time I have hit the board for a long time - I was going through withdrawal! http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif

Welcome back Dave!!
Sorry to hear about the eye sight thing. Not good news. Hopefully the Canadian national health system will not take too long to confirm an appointment for you.
My eyes are not what they used to be either and I'm only in my late 40's. As my old shop teacher said to me years ago - "not much good medical news comes after 50".
Oh well I guess that is what I bought the new progressive lenses - at least I can read the mics reliably again.
ps: stay away from the KBC sales flyers for a while longer. As the economy continues to tank the deals can only get better.
All the best - Dave

Well, so were we, it wasn't the same without you around! Hope you are on the mend,
Peter
I was reading the ingredients on the back of a bottle of Hershey's "Chocolate" syrup looking for anything that resembled chocolate or cocoa...
Looks like it's going to be "roll my own" with cocoa powder and sugar. Getting California cold around here and I needs my hot chocolate milk before I go out to my sea-land container "shop".
Glad you're back!

Welcome back Dave ! The energy level of the forum just hasn't been the same without your witty presence.
Need a specialist quick? Take a trip to Boston, walk into Mass. Eye and Ear and tell them it just happened http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//eek.gif
I'm sure they'll take good care of our Canadian friends http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//smile.gif

Hope your vision gets better. Looks like I'm gonna need cataract surgery pretty soon in my right eye.

Glad your back Thrud...I have a bottle of the best chocolate milk you can get here in Utah...It has your name on it....I tried scratching your name off so I could drink it, but you can still see your name..
This bottle will always be here for ya pal..(although it will probably go sour, so I'll put it in the garage for now)

Thanks guys, I missed you hosers too!
I have been playing musical doctors (apparently) and now have to go back to my opthamologist before the specialist will see me. I really hate doctors sometimes.

I seen Discovery channel advertise that it was going to be televised in HDTV last sunday at 2:00 PM - unfortunately I had to be elsewhere. Maybe I can get a DVD of it...

We almost went to Comdex to throw piss ballons at Bill Gates, but when we found out they wanted $2.95 admittance to see his lousy speech (what a rip off) we decided not to go. I do hope to get down there one of these days for that milk tho... http://bbs.homeshopmachinist.net//biggrin.gif

Where are you going for the cataract surgery? You know the Gimbel Eye Center here in Edmonton is one of the very best in the world. Two years ago my mother was considered inoperable, last year Gimbel restored most of her vision - she can watch movies now and read large print. They specialize in corrective surgery and cataracts.
