I went out to check some yard sales today. I stopped at one and found a nice US made vise marked 1755 for 25 bucks and at the next one this slightly damaged old wooden box for 10.

Good score!

I found a Starrett #133A Engineers level for $25 at a local yard sale a couple months ago. Some folks just don't know what they have.

A bit off topic but a little funny. Found what had to be the poorest example of a framed Velvet Elvis. At the time our offices had just been completely redone from the cement block to the carpet. All the managers were hanging fine art and art deco posters on their walls. The lady said she wanted $10.00 for the Velvet Elvis. I told her I was buying it for my friends office as a joke and asked if she'd take $5.00? She said no in a high brow tone and as she pulled it out of my hand she said she decided not to sell it :D It never occured to me that someone in that house may have painted it !!

To the op, nice score. I found the cheaper $100 version at a flea market and had to pay $25.00 :(

All I ever see at yard sales around here are...

Only broken plastic crap here. Rarely are they worth stopping at.

I wish I could sail in my yard and bring those things back from the Treasure Island. ;)

Went to a sale this morning. A number of old skil-saws. Thet looked rough. $20.00 plus, also nail guns $125.00 plus. However I did win! Did not buy anything at a number of sales. Wife is happy. On the other hand a month or so back bought a few tools from a guy. Picked up a Makita cordless drill. He said you can have it for free, battery is dead. Gave me the charger also. Charged the battery. Cleaned the terminals in the drill case slight corrosion from being in for so long. Works well if I keep it charged. Now use it all the time.

Well, it doesn't happen every day. I can't even tell you how many yard sales I have suffered through that only consisted of Mary K leftovers, kid's toys, worthless furniture and old clothes :(

As they say "Even a blind squirrel finds a nut, every once in a while".

But two major scores in the same day constitutes a gloat. :D

found some good stuff at the swap meet, got a nice stainless rule the other day at a yard sale for a buck, went out in the morning the other day to buy some smokes and passed a yard sale that had a table saw as one of the tables, out of curiousity I asked how much, he said 50$, I said I'll be back in 5 minutes, went and purchased it, went to use it a while later and found the blade was in backwards, changed it around and now it works great, the thing was almost new! guess he thought he was getting rid of a crap saw when he sold it to me, jokes on him.
